Instrumental
Music CD - "Broken Into Pieces"
This
is the first piano / instrumental CD made
by our clinical director, Kathy Broady. Kathy
has composed all of the music herself, except
for one interesting surprise song written
by Kathy’s daughter.
Although
this CD is not for trauma survivors alone,
“Broken into Pieces”
is devoted and dedicated to all survivors
of abuse. Our hope is that the music you hear
will soothe, comfort, and heal your deepest
wounds – the wounds where words cannot
begin to express the pain and the anguish,
where the hurts go beyond any understanding.
May these musical pieces bring gentle peace
and comfort into your world.
Music
can have whatever meaning fits for you. Some
of Kathy’s thoughts while recording
these pieces were as follows:
- Peace
(6:40)
Finding peace in the pieces and comfort
in music.
- So
Sad (5:43)
An instrumental version of the children’s
song “So Sad Today.”
- Broken
(Clips: low

bandwidth | help
| 6:49)
A painfully emotional piece about
being heart-broken, or soul-broken.
- Conflict
(Clips: low
bandwidth | high
bandwidth | help
| 5:34)
A musical interweaving of the inner battles,
the inner voices, and the internal conflicts
as experienced by dissociative people. There
are so many unique voices, yet they can
each blend together into a beautiful whole,
and the conflicts can be resolved peacefully
along the way.
- When
a Child... (Clips:

| 5:38)
You finish the sentence: When a child wants
to … What does this song become to
you?
- Nonsense
(6:04)
A song stemming from all of the ongoing
nonsense in the world. This song is an encouragement
to do what you can to be creative, add variety
to the norm, and make something out of nothing.
- Shadee’s
Puzzle (Clips: low
bandwidth | high
bandwidth | help
| 4:15)
When a child presents you with a challenge,
find a creative way to work with your puzzle
and put it all together. You’ll be
glad you did!
- Just
For Today (5:02)
When there is so much overwhelm going on,
what can you do, just for today? What can
you manage, just for today? Find one thing
you can do, and be pleased you were able
to get it done.
- First
Try (Clips: low

| 7:20)
This piece is included for some long-term
sentimental reasons. Kathy has had the dream
of doing a CD for many, many years, and
this piece represents the very first 7 minutes
of her recording time. “Just sit down
and play something,” he said. And
so she did – this piece was it. It
was her very first try… the first
step in her dream. What is the first step
of your dream?
